It has been an amazing privilege for Lori Ann to come alongside people to help them find healing and hope in God through His Word. Lori Ann has had ten years of experience as a Biblical Counselor. She received her training from the Institute of Biblical Counseling and Discipleship in San Diego, California. She is also certified as a Biblical Counselor through the National Association of Noethetic Counseling (NANC) and is a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC). Her greatest passion is helping women of all ages to overcome life dominating problems by finding their joy and fulfillment in the Lord. Most of her experience has been counseling women through various issues including marriage crises, obsessive compulsive disorders, drug addictions, eating disorders, depression, grief, sexual abuse, parenting problems, fear, anxiety, anger and a range of behavioral problems. William Eric Bryant, LPC-InternEric Bryant is an LPC-Intern at the Center for Christian Counseling, Ltd. practicing at the Flower Mound and Dallas locations. He received his B.A. in History from the University of North Texas and his M.A. from Dallas Baptist University. While counseling adolescences at a local juvenile detention center God began to press upon Eric the importance of working through life's issues with God's, not man's, wisdom at the center. When counseling is approached with only man's wisdom in mind, we fall short of dealing with the true heart issues involved and very often simply help pride become more deeply rooted in our lives. We must realize that we do not posses the ability to change our own hearts and cry out to God for help in times of crisis. God has given believers community, His Holy Scriptures, prayer, and His Holy Spirit to help us walk through this life in a God glorifying way. Consequently, these four topics will be the focal point of much of the counseling done. Eric has experience working with troubled marriages, adolescences, substance abuse, grief recovery, anger, and spiritual development. His goal is to see lives restored and developed by helping others walk deeply with the Lord. Eric and his wife, Cassie, worship together at the Village Church. Return to TopChristopher E Dockins, MABC, LPCHe who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 Chris Dockins, MABC, LPC, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. Chris has experience with helping individuals, couples, adolescents, and children through a number of different mental health related issues. He has a particular interest and heart for helping those that have a history of sexual abuse trauma. Chris is also serving the community in additional areas such as marital discord, parenting problems, and divorce recovery. On a general clinical level he can assist individuals, couples, adolescents, and children with things like depression, anxiety, addiction (alcohol, drugs, internet, etc.), adolescent issues, anger management, career/ministry, child abuse, communication, conflict resolution, domestic violence, family problems, grief/mourning, midlife crisis, missionary re-entry, pastor's families, phobias, physical abuse/domestic abuse, pre-marital, relationship issues, singleness issues/dating, spiritual issues, and suicide. Chris worked at the Denton County Child Advocacy Center where he received his initial exposure to the overwhelming need for competent mental health professionals serving people with a history of sexual abuse trauma. There he helped families affected by sexual abuse regain composure due to their traumatic experiences. Through this experience Chris has learned how important it is to have faith in Christ because through Him we can endure great adversity (Phil. 4:13). "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6). Through this biblical worldview, Chris understands that biblical counseling needs to be focused on the heart, because that is where God focuses (Psalm 51:17; 1 Samuel 16:7). It is easy to see that our actions are born out of our desires and beliefs, and scripture teaches that the source of our desires and beliefs is our heart (Luke 6:45; Romans 10:10). Chris also believes that our faith in Christ cannot be separated from our experiences in the world because we are called to be Christ's missionaries (Matt. 28: 19-20). Sometimes we can get confused when these complexities of life overwhelm us. For this reason, Chris sees scriptural truth helping to guide people through the tough seasons of life and lead them to their true calling of glorifying God. Scripture has many continuous themes running through it. These themes present us with an illustration of who God is. One of these themes is that He is a Redeemer. He is in the business of redeeming that which is corrupted. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege of accompanying Him in His redeeming plan. For this reason our lives are not our own. Katy and her husband Steve have been married 16 years and have two beautiful children, Taryn and Aiden. Emily Head, MS, LPC
After working as a school counselor for four years she realized counseling in the school setting was not what she expected and that there was very little time to truly give herself to the children that needed her. The Lord again led her down another path, into private practice where there she can counsel individuals through God’s word and devote her time in helping others. One of Emily’s specialties is working with individuals who have experienced trauma. She is working towards a certification as a trauma specialist. Another area of expertise Christ has blessed her with is the ability to work with children, adolescents, special needs children, and families. Her Registered Play Therapy Supervisor license is pending and she is a certified parent trainer. Even though much of her experience is with children, adolescents, and families, she has also has extensive experience and training in working with addictions, marital issues, grief, anxiety, depression, and various developmental disorders. Emily’s heart is for all people to be restored through the healing power of the Holy Spirit and for people to see how incredible having a real relationship with Christ is. She passionately cares about the youth, couples, families, and individuals helping them to restore balance in their lives and relationships the way God intends it. She is honored and humbled to be used to help others and knows that God has a plan for good things for His people (Jeremiah 29:11). Through Christ we can have restoration, healing, and a fulfillment that we will never find outside of having relationship with Him. Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. –Revelation 3:20 “The friends of Jesus often experience difficulty. In the world ye shall have tribulation. This tribulation is never greater than when the atmosphere of the world settles down with suffocating effect upon our inner life. The busyness of the day would hinder us in our prayers and in meditation upon the Word of God. God becomes distant, the world near and very alluring. In an atmosphere of this kind temptations multiply and defeat follows hard upon defeat. My weary friend, listen now: Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He will hold communion with you” (Hallesby, 1994, p. 300).
John Henderson, Pd.D., LPCThe Lord is my sheperd, I shall not want... Psalms 23:1 John Henderson received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of North Texas. Isaiah 26:3-4 Les earned a police officer certification, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling through Dallas Baptist University. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Les counsels according to Biblical principles purposing to bring about meaningful and lasting changes in the heart. In Jeremiah 16:12, God clearly expresses the heart of the problem: “ . . . for behold, you are each one walking according to the stubbornness of his own evil heart, without listening to Me,” and in Jeremiah 17:9 - “The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” In addition, God wants us to know: Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.” Clients can expect respect, warmth, acceptance, some moments of humorous relief, and accountability. While counseling individuals, groups, students, marrieds/pre-marrieds, firefighters, law enforcement officers and persons serving in areas of ministry, Mr. Leaton has worked with issues such as communication, grief, depression, stress, sexual addiction and types of abuse. Lee Lewis, Biblical CounselorThough our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 Lee Lewis recently moved from New Orleans, LA, where he had just finished his Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. While living in New Orleans Lee and his wife (Andrea) were involved in a house church network. Their hope was to find a counseling job in New Orleans and pastor a house church. After Hurricane Katrina they were forced to move and God opened opportunities for Lee to do counseling at the Center for Christian Counseling, Ltd in October of 2005. Randi Rose Moon, MAC, LPCBlessed are they who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart. Psalm 119:2 Randi Rose Moon is currently a LPC at the Center for Christian Counseling, Ltd. She earned her Masters degree in Counseling at Dallas Baptist University. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate work and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology. Stephen Shelton, Biblical CounselorI believe Nahum 1:7, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him,” is a scripture that speaks to believers in pain whatever that pain may be. As a Biblical Counselor I choose to give my life away in service to others in counseling, ministry, teaching, mentoring, and fellowship. I know life is often hard, and we all need to draw strength from the Lord in the company of other believers who lift one another up in times of great trial. This requires a transparent life that allows us to see the good and bad in each other and love one another unconditionally in the process. I pastored two churches and established a pastoral ministry at a third over the last fifteen years before joining the Center for Christian Counseling as a Biblical Counselor. We all go through times when we need help. We need new tools to accomplish the tasks we face during these times. We need to find our answers in Jesus Christ, in God’s Word, and in being accountable to other believers. I firmly believe 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” My life experiences uniquely equip me to help those seeking help with marriage and family issues, extended and blended families issues, suicide, grief recovery, crisis counseling, dispute resolution, and communication. I am married to Rhonda, my wife of over 30 years, and we have two daughters, one son-in-law and two grandchildren. I have a Master of Divinity degree and numerous certifications and enjoy learning. I seek balance in life and work hard to maintain appropriate boundaries so I can help others live a joyous, Christ honoring life. This counselor practices at our Flower Mound location.
